This is Wave 03 in progress. I so want to finish it, but there’s only so much time in the day. In fact, I’ve been so obsessed with this painting that I’ve been late to work twice and I missed last week’s blog posting deadline.
These are good problems to have and I am thankful for the muse who sits on my shoulder and at 4:00 am whispers. ‘Get up, it’s time to work in the studio’. I’m not always that responsive initially, but once I get downstairs and turn the lights on, all signs of tiredness evaporate and off I go.
Isn’t it amazing to have the gift of time to do what you love? I’m writing this down right now in order to remind myself the next time I get a rejection letter from a venue and want to start a pity party. While it’s lovely to have shows and sales, the gift is the process of self expression; the joy of seeing work come together in a cohesive fashion. Lucky, lucky me! I wish you the same lovely gift of time to do what you love. The laundry can wait.
