There’s a common mantra that encourages one to celebrate every day. I like the idea. The human brain is designed for efficiency, so it likes to summarize and categorize things that are repetitive. It becomes easier to overlook ordinary every day things as the brain goes into automatic mode. In following that path, life can become boring or routine. Do you remember what you ate for breakfast two days ago?
But what if we took the time to notice the common things? The leaves on the trees? The bus that drives by? The people we interact with every day? The mail in the mailbox? When you think about it, it’s all pretty amazing. It’s a little more work to remind yourself to notice things and to celebrate the wonder of every day, but what have you got to lose?
